100% Hypnospace on Xbox FAST with console commands

[WARNING – ALLLL THE SPOILERS BELOW!!]
[DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE IF YOU HAVE NOT BEAT THE GAME AT LEAST ONCE]

INTRODUCTION

This guide is meant to resolve critical save file failure once one has already beaten the game and achieved 100% HAP – or for anyone who wants to quickly create a 100% save file on console for whatever reason 🙂

Following this guide, you will be able to:

  1. Get through the entire game as quickly as possible without cheats, glitches, or console commands
  2. Achieve 100% HAP completion using console commands on Xbox (or other game console)

Please note that this guide is NOT intended to unlock all achievements

You will need a game console with Hypnospace Outlaw installed and a USB keyboard (wired or wireless). If you weren’t already aware, Hypnospace is one of very few games that you can play on your console using keyboard+mouse, try it!

GET STARTED

  1. Plug a USB keyboard into your Xbox (wired or wireless)
  2. Launch Hypnospace Outlaw
  3. Start a new save file

HOW TO ENTER DEBUG MODE

  1. During the boot-up sequence (while the game is showing our logos, or during the text-based bootup), hold the D+E keys and press B. You’ll know it works when you see red flashing text at the bottom of the screen.
    • NOTE: Debug mode is not needed until the last steps after Chapter 4, but while you’re debugging and using the console it may be helpful to get into the habit of doing this every time you see the text-based boot-up sequence – e.g. when HypnOS restarts, you log out and back in, and so on – to remain in DEBUG MODE the entire time.

CHAPTER 1

  1. Drag the Tutorial (?) icon to the trash, click OKAY
  2. Open Hypnospace Explorer
  3. Search for “FLST” and click the “FLIST ACCESS PORTAL” link
  4. Click “CLICK HERE TO ACCESS FLIST” and use password “THANKS4THEHC” to gain access
  5. Seach “8008” and click the “f80085d_05…” link
  6. Stamp the page by clicking the Star (“Stamps”) icon and clicking one of the stamp options
  7. Report Dylan’s amusing viruses for enforcement:
    • Click the hammer (“Enforcement”) icon, click #4, “M: Malicious Software” in the enforcement panel
    • Submit “flyingwinz.hex” for enforcement by clicking it and then clicking SUBMIT
    • Repeat for “smearpaper.hex”
  8. Get your headband borked:
    • Wait for Dylan to send you two emails, open the “Take some time off…” email and click the link at the bottom
    • Click the “Click here to install outlaw directly” link
    • Click the new “Outlaw 0.85 EARLY Alpha” icon on your desktop, click YES, then press any button to start Outlaw
    • Wait for things to break and HypnOS to restart

CHAPTER 2

  1. Log back into your save file
  2. Open Hypnospace Explorer
  3. Click the Star (“Stamps”) icon, click VIEW LIST, click the “F80085D_05” link
  4. Report Dylan’s pirated music list for enforcement:
    • Click the hammer (“Enforcement”) icon, click #1, “C: Content Infringement” in the enforcement panel
    • Submit one of the links for enforcement by clicking it and then clicking SUBMIT
    • Repeat for a few of the links and wait until HypnOS force-restarts

CHAPTER 3

  1. Wait for the HypnOS Year 2000 Update to install
  2. Open Hypnospace Explorer, click TEENTOPIA
  3. Click the big “Y2000 MINDCRASH COMETH” link at the top
  4. Click the keyboard image
  5. Enter password “MARSHMELLOW”
  6. Report the “Disable Scare Mindcrash Stuff Button” for enforcement:
    • Click the hammer (“Enforcement”) icon, click #4, “M: Malicious Software” in the enforcement panel
    • Submit the button for enforcement by clicking it and then clicking SUBMIT
  7. Click the button you just submitted for enforcement to disable the scary mindcrash stuff
  8. Wait for things to break and for HypnOS to log you out
    • Be sure you enter DEBUG MODE when you see the text-based bootup sequence!

CHAPTER 4

  1. Log back into your save file
  2. Install HAP:
    • Open the HSPD Enforcer Dashboard app
    • Click the “Welcome to the Hypnospace Archival Project” email
    • Click the hapinstall.hex file in the email
    • Open the Download Manager app
    • Click the hapinstall file to install the new app
  3. Complete the LAF cases:
  4. Lost “The Chowder Man” Song
    • Use HAP to switch to the Nov 26 1999 capture
    • Search “f00088d” and click the result
  5. Roddy’s Early “Test Pet” + prep for your final mission
    • Search “00021”, click the link
    • Download testpet.pet
    • Download 3y3.hex
    • Open Download Manager and install testpet
    • Click+drag the 3y3 app to your new pet, wait for them to poo out the icon, and double-click it to install the All Seeing Eye
  6. Wait for a few emails from Samantha/Chelsea
  7. Open the PRIVATE: Your Objective email, download sam-hammer.hex and install it
  8. Prove Merchantsoft caused the Mindcrash – CHAT LOGS:
    • Use HAP to switch to the Dec 31 1999 capture
    • Search “leaky”, open the Merchantsoft’s Leaky Piping link
    • Scroll to the bottom of this page. Open the All Seeing Eye app and drag it over the dark area at the very bottom. Click the LEAKY PIPING 004 link.
    • Use the Enforcement hammer and #6 “S: Submit Evidence” to submit the “DOWNLOAD CHATLOG SCREENSHOTS” link to Samantha
  9. Prove Merchantsoft caused the Mindcrash – MEDICAL EVIDENCE:
    • Use HAP to switch to the Nov 26 1999 capture
    • Search “freelands” and click the Freelands 5E link
    • Scroll to the bottom of this page. Open the All Seeing Eye app and drag it over the water. Click the grim reaper image that appears.
    • You should now be on Re3koning’s island
    • Click the $1 button to download Hypnocure Professional, install it via Download Manager
    • Use HAP to switch to the Dec 31 1999 capture, make sure you’re still on the “island”
    • Click the new (!) “Reload in Safe Mode” button at the top of Hypnospace Explorer
    • Click the “MERCHANTSOFT CLINICAL LEAK BACKUP” link
    • Scroll to the bottom of this page. Open the All Seeing Eye app and drag it over the center of the page so you can see the “CLICK TO DOWNLOAD UNRELEASED…” link.
    • Use the Enforcement hammer and #6 “S: Submit Evidence” to submit the “CLICK TO DOWNLOAD UNRELEASED…” link to Samantha
  10. Wait for a few emails to arrive, click Dylan’s link, use HAP to switch to the HAP Intranet capture, install the final version of Outlaw, open it and finish the eulogy/ascension sequence, view credits!

GET 100% HAP COMPLETION

  1. Open the dev console by pressing ~ or ` or §, depending on your keyboard
    • NOTE: This will not work if you are not in DEBUG MODE! Restart HypnOS by clicking the restart button at the top and follow the instructions above for entering DEBUG MODE.
  2. Type in the following script EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS BELOW, then press Enter/Return:
    • QuickScript:1|Debug|FillArchive|SaveGameData|DisableGroup:ActiveDebug
  3. Open the Hypnospace Archival Project app, and toggle through each of the captures. It should now be 100% completed and a file titled “thanks” should download to your Download Manager. Open it for some bonus content and to install an “Everything Search” tool 🙂

BONUS EXPLANATION OF HAP-FILLING SCRIPT:

  • QuickScript:1 – tells the console to run all following commands in a single frame, instead of one command per frame
  • Debug – activates Elevated Debug Mode (EDM)
  • FillArchive – fills the HAP archive to 100% as if you’ve visited every page in the game (COMMAND WORKS IN EDM ONLY)
  • SaveGameData – saves the game
  • DisableGroup:ActiveDebug – disables the code group that houses elevated debug mode code (COMMAND WORKS IN EDM ONLY)

EDM will crash the game on Xbox/Switch/PlayStation if allowed to initialize fully, therefore we must do everything we need to do while elevated within the same single frame that we enabled it, and then disable the EDM code group. That way it’s not allowed to fully initialize and crash the game.
